{"id":1804,"date":"2010-09-07T13:15:44","date_gmt":"2010-09-07T17:15:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.credittrends.com\/blog\/?p=1804"},"modified":"2010-09-24T17:22:23","modified_gmt":"2010-09-24T21:22:23","slug":"is-oracles-orcl-7-rise-today-justified","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.credittrends.com\/blog\/2010\/09\/07\/is-oracles-orcl-7-rise-today-justified\/","title":{"rendered":"Is Oracle&#8217;s (ORCL) 7% Rise Today Justified?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In March 2005, shares in NCR Corp (<a href=\"http:\/\/seekingalpha.com\/symbol\/ncr?source=search_general&amp;s=ncr\">NCR<\/a>) tumbled over 17% the day it was announced Mark Hurd, its CEO, would leave the company to join Hewlett-Packard (<a href=\"http:\/\/seekingalpha.com\/symbol\/hpq?source=search_general&amp;s=hpq\">HPQ<\/a>). At NCR, Hurd had cut costs while increasing revenues, and as a result, free cash flow grew substantially. As the shares in NCR were falling on the date of announcement, stock in Hewlett-Packard rose over 10%.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Were shareholders overreacting to the management changes at NCR and Hewlett, or were they correct?
